Over the past four years, the United States has become increasingly enveloped by an insidious collection of subversive and divisive groups, the most prominent being the so called Antifa, and Black Liberation Movement. The natural evolution of such groups has brought their destructive activities to a climax in this election year.
A persuasive argument can be made that their animating factor took place those four years ago. When Donald and Melania Trump descended the escalator at Trump Tower to declare his Presidential candidacy, he was widely ridiculed. The mere possibility of his election, however, caused a near panic amongst the very powerful and very extensive “Washington political establishment.”
The extent of that establishment is astounding. It includes current and past Senate and House members of both political parties, and Executive office holders. It includes many of the vast army of K Street lobbyists, as well as an array of connected attorneys. A number of media moguls and prominent political pundits are also included. Many in these groups have benefited from various forms of government largess over the years.
At first glance, it would appear that the establishment would have little commonality of interests with the aforementioned groups. Establishment members are seeking the acquisition of personal power and wealth. They are otherwise presumed to be loyal and patriotic Americans. Absenting themselves from those two characteristics, the subversive and divisive groups will, using whatever means they deem necessary, continuously attempt to convert the glorious American Democratic Republic into a Socialist Dictatorship!
What these two powerful groups do have very much in common is their intensely adversarial relationship with President Trump. They also have, in common, a long standing, unending, irrational hatred towards him. That binds them, probably very reluctantly, in an unholy alliance against any and all Trump policies.
For the first three years of the Trump administration, his policies created the most successful period in American economic history. Therefore, during that period, almost all criticisms tended to be somewhat muted. Then, during this election year, came the dreadful Coronavirus pandemic. Although the worldwide consequences were at least equally dreadful, the Democrats and their subservient media allies were eager to blame the President for what they unreasonably considered lack of progress in stopping, or at least slowing the virus, especially since this was happening during the Presidential election year.
The economy ground to a near halt, largely because of the constitutionally questionable, Draconian assumption of powers by local and state officials. Examples were closing of business, and social and sporting events. Unemployment soared and many critical personal bills went unpaid. There were even examples of people confined by law to their homes. As usual, the President was unjustly blamed.
The illegally imposed economic downturn accelerated the already existing unrest in major American cities. Decades of mismanagement, or corruption, by their Democratic leaders had caused the consequences of widespread decay. They included overcrowding, and little or no maintenance housing. That, in turn, contributed to expanded homelessness, with its accompanying and expanding disease provoking conditions. All the preceding fostered increasing crime, much of it with a violent, or even fatal, ending. Coincidentally, the brutal police assault of George Floyd, along with other reported similar incidents, further inflamed communities throughout the country, inciting multiple riots.
The combination of the deadly pandemic, the enforced accompanying economic decline, and the urban unrest, added the explosive fuel, no doubt welcomed by the ultra-left radicals. Their previous riotings, burnings, assaults, and the like, always fanned by paid troublemakers, has in turn fanned flames of discontent. It was natural then, that the country’s “wrong direction” numbers rose to such a high point.
Historically, American Presidents, Democrat or Republican, have gotten the credit, or the blame, for the good or bad times prevailing when they were up for re-election. Unfortunately for President Trump, the combination of negative events described herein crested at election time, thereby placing his re-election in obvious jeopardy!
Although the major media are frantically trying to anoint Biden to the presidency, the final results are yet to be determined. President Trump has been criticized for not being a good loser, and he has admitted to that. The great football coach, Vince Lombardi, has been quoted as saying, “Show me a good loser, and I will show you a loser.” Win or lose, however, one thing seems virtually certain. The President’s more than 70 million enthusiastic supporters guarantee that he will continue to be a dominant figure in American life. Everything in his background, and in his persona, indicate that he will never just “ride off into the sunset!”
